Program of Study
In addition to the core curriculum offered at Hoosac, we yearly introduce new, and often specialized, courses. In an effort to create an individualized academic experience for each student, independent programs of study are also designed in several fields. Hoosac’s variety of course offerings reflect not only the individual areas of concentration and interest among the faculty, but also our belief that the larger implications and truths addressed in a particular course are not limited solely to a particular field. At Hoosac, the ideas introduced in any given course elucidate ideas and questions in other, often seemingly unrelated, courses. In designing our curriculum, we strive to impart to students the basic truth that questions and ideas are not confined to the conventional boundaries of a particular field of study. The study of Mathematics makes us better writers, art makes us better mathematicians, and philosophy makes us better artists.
Departments include: E.S.L., English, Ethics, History, Language Arts, Mathematics, OASIS, Technology, Science, and the Arts
Athletics
The Hoosac sports program provides every student the opportunity to experience the thrill of athletic competition on an intramural or interscholastic level.
At Hoosac School, we view athletic competition as an extension of the academic curriculum, and essential to building character. Emphasis is placed on sportsmanship, cooperation, self-discipline, and enjoying the game at every level.
As a member of the Hoosac student body, you are obligated to participate in three different sports throughout the year. By testing your skills in competition, you will develop self-confidence, learn the importance of practice, and experience the emotional growth that goes with belonging to a team and applying yourself to a shared objective.
Ssports include: Soccer, Basketball, Ice hockey, Lacrosse, Baseball, Volleyball, Tennis, Cross Country, Golf, Swimming, Lifeguard Training, Skiing, Yoga and Snowboarding.
